Functional Safety

Functional Safety represents one of the key elements for the certification of new machines and plants and/or for the safety upgrade of existing plants.

The respect of the parameters of reliability and “performance” of the Safety Functions (machine behavior related to the operation of safety components, such as interlocking microswitches, light curtains, emergency buttons, …), are now central elements in the design of safety in industry, and the related parameters such as the “Safety Integrity Level (SIL)” or the “Performance Level (PL)” must necessarily be part of the design process.

NEMOTEC supports its customers by managing the entire functional safety process, starting from the identification of the safety functions to be implemented in the design phase, from the definition of functional diagrams (Functional Block Diagram, FBD and Reliability Block Diagram, RBD), to the evaluation of functional safety parameters (SIL/PL) and the drafting of the relevant manuals (Manuals for Safety Loops).
